Save Leia From Jabba!

I finally took some good pictures of my latest Star Wars Quiet Book page.  I think this one might be my favorite one so far!

This page is for practicing your tying skills :)

I particularly love how mad she is!  & the fact that since these are supposed to be the little kid versions of the characters she's in a tasteful one-piece.

I added some velcro so she can be removed from the page once you've untied her.

This is a really fun project, but boy!  Is it a labor of love!  I've been working on and off on it since about June!  Below is the link to the other pages I've completed:

& Here's where the original idea came from (unfortunately, I can't take full credit for this awesomeness!):

I'm currently working on a page where you get to "blow up" some tie fighters!  Let's see how long that one takes...

Pintastic Friday!

Here's a few of my fave pins from the week:

Here's a really cool tutorial on using freezer paper to help with cutting felt. Brilliant!

How fun would this be for your little boy's play jeans! Definitely going to need to remember this one :)

Valentine's Day!

This was the first year in a long time that I had the opportunity to make cutesy little valentines to hand out to people.  Seriously, what a fun tradition is this?  I know some people get all snitty that we should "love each other all year round, not just one day a year", which I agree with, but isn't it nice that we have a day specially dedicated to expressing that love?

Rowan needed two sets of valentines this year:  One set for our playgroup and another for his friends at baby school.  Since there were fewer in playgroup, I decided to  do something a little more "elaborate" (& really, they weren't elaborate at all).

I saw something with the same phrase on Pinterest, but it was just a picture, not a printable.  So I went to good old Google and just searched for "I wheelie like you printable" and found this website.  I was able to just print and cut!  Easily done in a nap time!  The cars I purchased from the dollar store and the washi tape I had.  Rowan LOVED the cars, so much so I had a serious time keeping him from tearing the cars off all the cards.  & it turns out other 2 year olds love them too!

My other set I found on a blog called Cool Mom Picks.  They had a roundup of cute and fun valentines for "when you don't have time to make them yourself".  I'm okay with making 10, but 25 is a bit too many.  First, I love the monster & fruit thing going on with these.  No one thinks of monsters on Valentine's Day!  & they just seem perfect for a little boy to give.  The best part though?  You can cut them out and turn them into finger puppets!   How fun is that?  Oh this one was a printable that I bought for $4 from Scenerie on Etsy.

& just for good measure, here's the card I got from my husband and my son :)  Gotta love it!

Pintastic Friday! (err...Saturday!)

A day late, but not short!  (I prefer the term vertically challenged.)  Here's a few fun finds from Pinterest this week:

I found this tutorial for a really cute poof.  I think Rowan might need one (or two!) for the floor :)

Who doesn't need a pair of these occasionally!

& on Tiara Tuesdays, you can wear your real one!

Valentine Tree

Remember the blog I wrote last month about the Tree of Many Seasons?  Here's my new scene for February!

I added the black kitty in memory of my cat, Demi, who we lost last month.  He came from the original Create a Critter Cricut cartridge.  However, I tweaked it by leaving off the stripes and adding eye and nose color.  Not sure I'm sold on him.  There's a couple more cat versions I might have to try out...

& the box of chocolates, which is just too cute, came from the Create a Critter 2 Cricut cartridge.

The pink owl has to be one of my favorites from this new cartridge.  She's just perfect for Valentines Day!  Oh, and in case you've made these characters and they don't look quite as sharp, try using the Cricut Markers.  You actually remove the blade and housing from the Cricut machine and replace it with one of these markers.  Then you end up cutting image twice:  Once, with the marker, then once with the blade.  It makes the images much sharper.  I've found this particularly useful when doing large items, but it helps with small ones too!

I'm not sure what I'll do for March.  Usually I would do St. Pat's day, then do Easter in April.  But Easter falls on March 31 this year!  Not sure if I'll split the month in half, or just skip St. Pat's this year.  Will probably depend on how fast time files ;)

I also finished page 6 in my Star Wars quiet book this weekend, so look for another blog post soon!

Pintastic Friday!

Here's a few fun finds from Pinterest this week:

This one just made me giggle :)  What a fun way to keep your beverage of choice warm!

I'm pretty much obsessed with this one.  We just lost our kitty of 15 years last week, so my heart is still aching for him, and I couldn't help but think how much he would have loved this!  Maybe someday down for our next furbaby ;)

Now that my son is getting old enough to color, I've been thinking of ways to display his masterpieces. I really like how this one would accommodate art of any size.

Don't forget that you can follow me on Pinterest here.  I'm an avid pinner so there's always something new to check out!
